A tiger was found dead in the district with a wire stuck around its neck. An official gave this information on Sunday. Forest Range Officer Babulal Chaddha said that he received information about an injured tiger in Katangi area on Saturday.
"However, by the time we reached the spot, the tiger had died. We suspect that it may have died due to hunger and dehydration as the wire was stuck around its neck," he said.
Forest officials suspect that the tiger may have tried to cross the wire fencing erected around the farm to prevent wild boars from destroying crops. They said that during this time the wire may have got stuck in its neck like a noose.
According to officials, investigation is underway in the case. The carcass of the tiger was disposed of after postmortem as per the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
