Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, accompanied by his wife Smt. Kaushalya Sai and family members, visited the Shri Phaleshwarnath Mahadev Temple in his native village Bagiya on Monday and offered prayers to Lord Shiva on the auspicious occasion of Sawan Somwar and Nag Panchami. He prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Chhattisgarh and the continued progress of the state.

A three-day special religious ceremony is being held at the Shri Phaleshwarnath Mahadev Temple, located on the banks of the Maini River, from August 17 to 19. The ceremony involves the making and worship of 1,11,111 Parthiv Shivlings, sacred representations of Lord Shiva made by devotees from clean soil, clay or mud.

Chief Minister Shri Sai and Smt. Kaushalya Sai joined devotees in making the Parthiv Shivlings and performed the dedicated rituals. The temple premises resonated with Vedic chants and cries of “Har Har Mahadev”.

Extending his greetings to the people on Nag Panchami and Sawan, Chief Minister Shri Sai said the holy month of Sawan holds special significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. He prayed for Mahadev’s blessings upon every family in the state, abundant harvests for farmers and continued peace, prosperity and progress in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said Indian culture reflects a deep connection between reverence for nature and faith in the divine. Rivers, forests, mountains and living beings are integral to the state’s faith and traditions. Worshipping Lord Shiva during the holy month of Sawan, he said, reminds people of their responsibility towards nature, public welfare and service.

The three-day religious ceremony has drawn large numbers of devotees to the temple and surrounding area. Along with the making and worship of Parthiv Shivlings, the programme includes abhishek, aarti, purnahuti and distribution of prasad. Devotees are making the Shivlings collectively and offering prayers to Lord Shiva for peace, prosperity and the welfare of the people of Chhattisgarh and the region.
