Gurugram A husband was arrested in Haryana's Gurugram for allegedly strangling his wife to death following a quarrel over going home for Holi, police said on Saturday. After strangulating his wife to death with her dupatta, the accused husband allegedly locked the body in his rented room in Bhaingrola village and fled from the spot, police said.
He said that the body of the woman was recovered on March 7. According to the police, the deceased woman has been identified as Renu, a native of Uttar Pradesh. He said that an FIR has been registered in Kherki Daula police station in connection with the incident.
The Manesar crime branch team arrested the accused from Balia in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Ankit, who also hails from Uttar Pradesh. A Gurugram police spokesperson said, "There was a quarrel between the husband and wife over going home on the festival of Holi, after which the accused strangled his wife to death with a dupatta and then locked the rented room and fled. We are interrogating the accused.
