Accident in Marine Drive: Hoarding frame fell on the road, two vehicles damaged

Raipur A major accident was averted on Sunday morning at Marine Drive Chowk in the capital, when the iron frame of a huge hoarding fell during the Tiranga Yatra. Two cars were damaged in the accident, although the riders did not suffer serious injuries. Due to the incident, there was a traffic jam in the area for some time.

Old hoardings are becoming a life-threatening danger.
In these days of rain and storm, the danger of old and dilapidated hoardings and welcome gate structures falling is increasing continuously. Last month, the corporation administration had sought a security guarantee certificate from the advertising firms and an inspection of the structure, but this campaign was shelved as soon as it started.

Hundreds of weak and tilted hoardings installed across the city are inviting some major mishap due to the negligence of the corporation. This incident has once again raised questions that how long will the corporation wait for an accident?

Strict action is necessary on old and unsafe hoardings for the safety of the city dwellers. The administration should re-inspect all the structures and remove unsafe hoardings immediately so that no fatal accident occurs in future.
