Environmental protection is the responsibility of every citizen: Kedar Kashyap

    Raipur     On the occasion of World Environment Day, Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' tree plantation program organized near Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Bemetara district. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap planted a Rudraksh plant and started this campaign by worshiping the Peepal tree. Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel planted a sandalwood plant. On this occasion, MLAs Dipesh Sahu and Ishwar Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Smt. Richa Sharma, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests V Srinivas Rao and other guests planted about 200 saplings and gave the message of environmental protection.

Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel participated in the program organized in the town hall of the city under the 'Jal-Van-Jan' Ek Prakritik Bandhan Abhiyan. They inaugurated the program by garlanding the picture of Maa Saraswati and Chhattisgarh Mahtari and lighting the lamp. Bemetara Collector Ranbir Sharma welcomed the guests by presenting a flower bouquet and gave information about the awareness programs conducted in the district under the Jal-Van-Jan Abhiyan.

In his address, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap said that environmental protection is not only the responsibility of the government but also of every citizen. Saving water, forest and land should be our priority. Planting trees is the first step, the real responsibility is to take care of them and protect them. Watering trees and serving them is an old tradition in our culture. We have to follow this tradition so that our future generations can also breathe in a healthy environment. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls for planting a tree in the name of mother in Mann Ki Baat and from different platforms. This should become a mass movement. We all must plant a tree and also take care of it. He said that it is important to understand the seriousness of the water crisis. We have to take every possible measure to conserve water. He appealed to the farmers to adopt low-water crops instead of paddy, so that the water crisis can be overcome. Minister Kashyap said that everyone should plant trees in school premises, ponds and panchayat areas, around their homes and give priority to the protection of plants. He said that every person will have to take responsibility of protecting trees along with planting them and public participation is most important in water conservation.

Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel said that planting trees and preserving them is the biggest need to deal with the water crisis. Along with this, saving water and understanding its importance is equally important. He said that water and trees are the basis of our life. Understanding their importance, we all have to come forward and work to preserve them at every level. MLA Dipesh Sahu and MLA Ishwar Sahu also addressed the program.

At the end of the program, fruit and shade trees were distributed and an appeal was made to preserve them. During this, all the guests took an oath to conserve water and emphasized on collective efforts to protect the environment and solve the water crisis. On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Ramkrishna Sahu, former MLA Awadhesh Chandel, Chairman Chhattisgarh Weavers Board Prahlad Rajak, Municipal Council President Vijay Sinha, local public representatives and other dignitaries were present.
