Bhilai      A shocking case has come to light from the Bank of Baroda branch located in the Civic Center of the city, where gold jewelry worth about Rs 50 lakh mysteriously disappeared from a customer's locker. On the complaint of locker user Daroga Singh, the police have registered a case and started investigation.

What is the matter?
Daroga Singh, a resident of Road No. 5, Bhilai, who is a retired employee of HSCL, has been using a locker in the bank since 1991. On January 17, 2025, the bank personnel informed him that there was a technical fault in his locker and it would have to be replaced. Daroga Singh changed the locker in the presence of the bank staff and shifted the jewelry from the old locker to the new locker.

But on April 22, 2025, when he went to see the locker again, he saw that two packets of jewelry kept in the locker were missing. These jewels belonged to his wife Shyama Singh and daughter Aradhana Singh.

According to Daroga Singh, when he asked for an answer from the bank employees, he was tried to avoid it. After this, he made a written complaint in Bhilai Nagar police station and met the SP and gave full information. The police

engaged in the investigation
has taken the incident seriously and has started the process of collecting the CCTV footage of the bank, locker operation records and statements of bank employees. At present, the value of the jewellery has been estimated to be Rs 50 lakh, but the real value will be revealed only after investigation.

Daroga Singh said - Trust broken
Daroga Singh said, "I have been using this locker for three decades, such a situation never came. I hope that the investigation will be fair and I will get my wife and daughter's jewellery back. The bank which I trusted is now under question."

Now it remains to be seen whether this is a case of theft, negligence or some internal conspiracy. But it is certain that transparency and accountability are very important in such a big case of breach of trust.
