G7 supports Israel, calls Iran a source of regional instability

Toronto      The conflict between Israel and Iran has been going on for the last five days. Amidst this tension, on Tuesday, the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries have reaffirmed their support for peace and stability in the Middle East. Along with this, they have supported Israel's right to self-defense. In a joint statement issued from the summit, the G7 leaders have described Iran as the 'main source' of regional instability and terror. They said that Iran should never be allowed to make nuclear weapons. Along with this, they have urged all parties to move towards a ceasefire and reducing tensions in Gaza.

The statement said, we, the leaders of G-7, reiterate our commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East. In this context, we affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for Israel's security. We also affirm the importance of the safety of citizens. Iran is the main source of regional instability and terror. Our clear opinion is that Iran should not have nuclear weapons. Along with this, we also urge that the Iranian crisis be resolved so that tensions in the Middle East can be reduced. We also want a ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement also underlined the G7's readiness to take action to maintain the stability of the energy market amid rising tensions. Meanwhile, tensions have escalated further. Israel has warned residents of Tehran to evacuate the city ahead of air strikes. Israeli officials have urged citizens to immediately leave the Iranian capital, indicating a large-scale attack.

In response to the deteriorating situation, United States President Donald Trump cut short his visit to the G7 summit by a day. Amid this Israel-Iran tension, both countries have used missiles and drones against each other. On the social media platform Truth, Trump has asked people to evacuate Tehran.

Trump has repeatedly said that the current crisis could have been avoided if Iran agreed to a nuclear deal with the United States. He said the deal has reached a deadlock. Now the conflict risks escalating further unless immediate steps are taken to reduce tensions.
