Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the Bijapur Government Factory located at Itpal.
On this occasion, he also inspected the ongoing textile manufacturing work in the garment factory and talked to the women working here. Baghel flagged off the first batch of products ready for the market from the factory.
The main source of livelihood of the villagers living in Bijapur district is agriculture and forest based. And in view of the migration of rural people to other states for employment due to lack of industry in the district, the district administration Bijapur established a garment factory as a business model for stable livelihood and women empowerment. Which is an example of the business model of the district administration to provide employment to maximum number of beneficiaries at minimum cost. In which, maximum number of beneficiaries can be provided employment by setting up garment based industry in less time and at less cost.
For setting up a garment factory, discussions have been held with the country's big garment brands like Myntra, Max, Dixie etc. In which representatives of Dixie and Myntra companies visited the district and agreed to establish the factory. Thus the garment factory has been built at a cost of Rs 6 crore 90 lakh 27 thousand.
Counseling of 800 women to work in the garment factory was started and training was given to 200 beneficiaries. In June 2023, it was decided to start vest production in the District Project Livelihood College with 70 women by signing a 5-year contract with Dixie Company.
