Chhattisgarh’s Sports Talents Thrive Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s Visionary Leadership

Ritika Dhruv, a passionate badminton player from Dhamtari and the daughter of a labourer, never imagined that her love for the sport would lead to a personal interaction with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Today, as Ritika connected with the Chief Minister over a video call, it was a moment of pride and inspiration for the young athlete.  

During the conversation, Shri Sai commended Ritika’s dedication to badminton and motivated her to continue excelling. He remarked, “Keep honing your badminton skills and aim for greater heights. Make your parents and Chhattisgarh proud. Whatever support or resources you need for your sporting journey, we will ensure you have them.” These encouraging words filled Ritika with renewed determination.  

Chief Minister took a keen interest in Ritika’s background, learning about her family’s financial challenges. Ritika shared that her father works as a labourer and her mother serves as an Anganbadi assistant. Despite their modest means, Ritika’s passion for badminton grew stronger over the years, turning into a lifelong commitment. Shri Sai praised her resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.  

Ritika also highlighted her participation in the Khelo India University Games held in Bengaluru and a recent national tournament in Odisha. She expressed her dream of representing India on the global stage and winning an Olympic medal. Shri Sai assured her, “Your Olympic aspirations will come true. As the Chief Minister and President of the State Olympic Association, I am committed to supporting athletes like you who bring pride to Chhattisgarh.”  

Currently pursuing her final year of a Bachelor of Arts degree, Ritika explained how she balances her academic pursuits with her sporting ambitions. Shri Sai encouraged her to continue excelling in both fields, offering his blessings and wishing her success in all future endeavors. The conversation left Ritika visibly elated and inspired.  

Chief Minister Shri Sai has been an advocate for nurturing sports talent in Chhattisgarh. Under his leadership, significant initiatives have been undertaken to develop state-of-the-art sports infrastructure and provide platforms for young athletes to excel. Recently, he extended support to mountaineer Nisha for her expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro. Today’s heartfelt interaction with Ritika further demonstrated Shri Sai’s unwavering commitment to empowering the state’s budding talents and fostering a culture of excellence in sports.
