Prayagraj Maha Kumbh: More than 1000 environmental champions will come together

The Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is weaving a powerful story of culture and spirituality as well as environmental conservation. On January 31, the city will host a Green Maha Kumbh. It will bring together more than 1,000 environmental and water conservation activists from across the country. This unique event is part of the Gyan Maha Kumbh-2081 series organised by Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. Its chief patron is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath.

As part of the Green Maha Kumbh, there will be a national level discussion on issues related to nature, environment, water and sanitation. Experts will share their experiences and insights on how to maintain the balance of the five elements of nature and address the challenges faced by them. Additionally, ways to increase awareness among the visitors of the Maha Kumbh about environmental protection and cleanliness, as well as the campaigns being run to promote these efforts, will also be discussed. To realize the dream of a clean Maha Kumbh, government agencies, public representatives and local citizens are working together to ensure the success of this spiritual and historical event. Under this initiative, the Swachhata Rath Yatra was launched in Prayagraj today to promote cleanliness and raise public awareness, which saw significant community participation. The Swachhata Rath Yatra was launched to ensure that the spirit of cleanliness prevails for the devotees and tourists visiting the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Maha Kumbh Nagar route passes through the city. The initiative aims to maintain a clean environment for millions of visitors visiting during this grand event.

Prayagraj Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani described the event as a 'Jan Jagran Yatra' aimed at making Prayagraj clean, healthy and disciplined. Citizens were urged not to litter, use dustbins and avoid single-use plastic. The event received enthusiastic support from the locals and many actively participated in it. Street play artists carrying different coloured dustbins alongside the chariot spread awareness about proper segregation of waste by using separate dustbins for wet and dry waste. Taking the message further, cleanliness-themed music bands performed during the yatra, which further strengthened the call to keep Prayagraj clean during the Maha Kumbh. A large number of Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) and municipal corporation employees also actively participated, emphasizing the importance of their role in keeping the city clean.
