All government buildings in the district will be made tobacco free under the COTPA Act

A meeting of the district level committee of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organized under the Social Welfare Department under the chairmanship of Collector Dharmesh Kumar Sahu. In the meeting, various topics including the public awareness campaign being conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan were discussed on the agenda and the concerned departments have been directed to work by directing them to conduct a comprehensive public awareness campaign in the programs organized in the coming month and to make a plan to declare government and public buildings tobacco free. 

In the meeting, various departments have been informed about their responsibilities under the COTPA Act and have been directed to take action as per the Act. Instructions have also been given to organize training and sensitization programs for the workers of Bharat Mata Vahini Yojana run by the Social Welfare Department. The Officer-in-Charge of Social Welfare has been directed to take necessary action for the establishment and operation of a de-addiction center in the district.

Additional Collector Shravan Kumar Tandon, SDM Sarangarh Prakhar Chandrakar, SDM Bilaigarh Dr. Varsha Bansal, Deputy Collector Aniket Sahu, Shiksha Sharma, CMHO Dr. F R Nirala, Social Welfare Officer Vinay Tiwari, Women and Child Development Officer Vijendra Thakur, District Education Officer L P Patel, DPM Nandlal Ijardar, Nodal Officer National Tobacco Free Program Dr. Indu Sonwani, representative of Superintendent of Police, representative of organization working for de-addiction, along with other district level officers and employees were present in the meeting. In the meeting, Nodal Officer of National Tobacco Free Program from the Health Department gave information about the work done under the COTPA Act and explained in detail about the responsibilities of the department according to the Acts.
