The unprecedented work done by the capital's senior eye specialist Dr. Dinesh Mishra in the field of social service has been recognized in the Golden Book of World Records. He was given this honor considering the free eye camps organized by him during big festivals like Diwali and Holi for the last 33 years as a unique example of public service.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh honored Dr. Dinesh Mishra by giving him a medal and certificate issued by the Golden Book of World Records. On this occasion, Chhattisgarh head of the organization Sonal Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to the Assembly Speaker Vikram Sisodia and other citizens were present.
Long journey of social service
Dr. Dinesh Mishra started free eye camps in 1991. These camps were organized during festivals so that needy patients could get immediate medical facilities in emergency situations. He told that eye-related problems increase due to accidents caused by Diwali firecrackers and Holi colors. In such a situation, these camps have provided relief to thousands of people.
Treatment of more than 4,000 patients
Dr Mishra has so far examined, treated and operated more than 4,000 injured patients free of cost. He never took financial help from any person or institution and provided free medicines and treatment to the patients

Dr Dinesh Mishra has already received many prestigious awards for his service work, which include:
Chhattisgarh State Decoration Ravi Shankar Shukla Award (2006)
National Award (2008) by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Red and White Bravery Gold Award.

Praising his work, Dr Raman Singh said that the contribution made by Dr Mishra to humanity is an inspiring example of social service. Mrs Sonal Sharma also described his initiative as highly commendable and said that organizing such camps during festivals, when medical services are limited, is a big contribution.
Basis of people's trust
Dr Mishra's efforts have earned the trust of people not only in Raipur but also in remote areas of Chhattisgarh. Patients travel long distances to these camps for treatment.
