Collector Deepak Agarwal has declared dry day from 5 pm on February 9 to the end of polling on February 11 and till the end of counting on February 15, with the aim of conducting the general elections of municipalities and three-tier panchayats in the district smoothly and fairly.
Under the order issued, all country liquor shops and country liquor shops located in the urban body of Gariaband district will remain closed on the said scheduled date. The collector has given instructions to ensure strict compliance of the instructions given in the said dry day. Along with this, instructions have also been given to control the illegal manufacture, possession, transportation, purchase, sale, storage and smuggling of liquor from any authorized and unauthorized places and to take strict action on receipt of complaint.
Liquor shops to remain closed:- On the above mentioned dates, the Foreign Liquor Shop Gariaband and Country Liquor Shop Gariaband under Municipal Council Gariaband, Foreign Liquor Shop Rajim and Country Liquor Shop Rajim under Municipal Panchayat Rajim, Foreign Liquor Shop Phingeshwar and Country Liquor Shop Phingeshwar under Municipal Panchayat Phingeshwar, Country Liquor Shop Chhura and Foreign Liquor Shop Chhura under Municipal Panchayat Chhura and Country Liquor Shop Sonamundi and Foreign Liquor Shop Sonamundi under Municipal Panchayat Devbhog will remain closed.
